Advocacy Training is an independent training organisation providing training to advocates across all levels.

Part of the wider organisation SEAP, which stands for Support, Empower, Advocate and Promote, Advocacy Training are the training arm of the organisation.

However, they’d reached a point where their own online presence was justified, as opposed to just having a section on SEAP’s larger website. They were ready to break away and establish their own online identity through a fully fledged website.

We began by establishing why Advocacy Training felt like they needed their own website, and what purpose the website was going to serve. After exploring this, we came up with a sitemap of content for the website.

We were looking to create a new website but found this market difficult to understand. We wanted someone we could trust to be as passionate about achieving our vision as we are.

Key goals

The website was, first of all, intended to provide key information on the organisation and the courses provided. Who were they for, what topics were covered, and how much did they cost.

Tom took time to understand and explore our ideas, and then developed additional ideas to help deliver on these.

The website homepage needed to be designed to grab attention, lead users into the relevant parts of the website, and engage them. Val and Caroline from Advocacy Training were clear that they wanted a fresh, contemporary design, emphasising their personal nature and transparent pricing.

Another key goal of the website was to promote course bookings and encourage website visitors to enquire about attending. We needed to feature an easy to use booking form, that was effortless on both desktop computers and mobiles.

A final key goal of the site was to allow course attendees to download course materials in a password-protected area. This needed to be easily accessible from the homepage of the website, but not too intrusive to other users.

A fresh design

The final design we created for Advocacy Training was modern and engaging. It is unlike any other training provider in their space, and combines attractive photography, colourful gradients and considered shapes to guide the user’s’ attention around the pages.

As part of the design, we updated the Advocacy Training logo and extended the pink colour throughout the design to create a wider brand image.

Advocacy Training had a bank of great testimonials from previous course attendees, which were used throughout the site to reinforce the quality of training provided and the positive experience attendees would have.

The site is now easy to navigate, provides all appropriate information in an attractive new design, and promotes course bookings and enquiries.

I can honestly say the process from conception to live site has been such a positive experience. The relationship felt very supportive, professional and person centred.
